Lack Of Transparency In Tender Notice Alleged In Jhabua

Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh): Tribal affairs department issued a tender notice for the construction works worth crores of rupees in the district on December 23.

However, questions are being raised regarding transparency in the tender process as the department has not uploaded necessary information about it on the online portal.

According to the tender, 10 construction works are to be done in Jhabua, Thandla, Ram, Petlawad and Ranapur development blocks of the district.

Developmental works include construction work of Adivasi Kanya Ashram and Adivasi Bal Ashram, drinking water facility in Eklavya Adarsh Awasiya Vidyalaya and construction of CC road in Eklavya Adarsh Awasiya Vidyalaya.

On condition of anonymity, some of the contractors said that due to the estimates not being uploaded, interested contractors who live outside the district will have to come to Jhabua to get detailed information.

In many districts, estimates are uploaded in the online bid for construction works of the Tribal Affairs Department. It is mentioned in the tender document that it will be mandatory for the contractor to complete the approved works under the guidance of the departmental sub-engineer using appropriate material in a quality manner.

But, the post of sub-engineer is vacant in the department and there is no technical officer either. In such a situation, who will look after the quality of construction works worth crores? Attempts to contact tribal affairs department assistant commissioner Nisha Mehra to discuss the issue failed.
