Mumbai: In a bid to enhance security and streamline visitor management at Mantralaya, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to implement advanced AI technology. The decision was announced during a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
“Our aim is not to reduce the footfall at Mantralaya but to ensure that every individual entering the premises is properly identified,” Fadnavis said. He explained that a new system would be introduced, enabling visitors to register online and receive an entry slip. This slip must be presented at the entry gate and submitted upon exit.

“With this system, we’ll be able to monitor who enters regularly and stays for extended periods. Allegations about agents and liaison personnel will also be addressed effectively,” he said.
Fadnavis highlighted plans to reduce unnecessary visits to Mantralaya by strengthening district-level grievance redressal mechanisms. “Many issues brought to Mantralaya can be resolved at the district level itself. By creating a robust grievance redressal system, we aim to ensure that people don’t need to travel to Mantralaya for matters that can be handled locally,” he added.
Providing instructions to implement advanced technologies like AI for a systematic process from entry to exit at the Mantralaya, Fadnavis said, “During the legislative sessions, officers and staff who regularly travel to the Vidhan Bhavan should be provided with security passes granting access to all relevant areas. Additionally, the construction of an underground passage between Mantralaya and the Vidhan Bhavan is underway. This passage should include designated entry points for officers and staff traveling to the Vidhan Bhavan.”
He further instructed that security meshwork on every floor of the Mantralaya should be completed. Once the work is finished, temporary security nets should be removed. Proper inspection of belongings at the Mantralay’s entrance should be conducted to ensure no objectionable items are brought into the premises.
