The Badlapur East Police busted a fake rape case filed against a man who was not involved in the crime while he was staying in Lucknow when the crime was committed. The police took two individuals into custody, while two others are still at large.
The accused are identified as Bhavesh Totalani and Parthamesh Yadav. The main kingpin is identified as Sunny Chavan, who hatched a conspiracy to implicate Abhishek Singh, the brother-in-law of Chavan.
On December 30, a case was filed by the victim, accusing Abhishek Singh of rape. The police started to probe the matter and discovered that Singh was staying in Lucknow based on his tower location. A police team went to Lucknow and questioned Singh about the rape case. He stated that he had not gone to Badlapur and had not committed any offense. The police scrutinized the CCTV footage and mobile tower location and discovered that he was indeed in Lucknow when the incident occurred.
According to the police, another team went to the lodge (hotel) to investigate who had accompanied the victim. They checked the register book of the lodge and found Singh’s Aadhar card entry. They also reviewed CCTV footage and discovered that Singh was not at the lodge with the victim. Following this, the accused Totalani was arrested based on his motorcycle registration number. During interrogation, Totalani revealed that he had committed the act at the behest of Chavan. He further revealed the name of another accused, Parthamesh Yadav, who created a fake social media account in the name of Singh and made a fake Aadhar card, leading the woman (victim) to chat with him.
The investigating officer said, “The victim chatted only to prove the rape case. The accused, Sunny Chavan’s wife, had filed a criminal case against him. Chavan was disappointed with Abhishek Singh for interfering in a family matter. Therefore, he made a plan to implicate Singh in a fake case.”
